At Savage Guitar Studio is based in Newcastle City Centre. offering the very best in Professional Guitar & Bass Tuition. Teaching all styles of guitar ranging from; rock, pop, blues, country, funk, fusion, jazz, acoustic, etc. Studies include Improvisation, sight-reading and music theory from all levels from beginners to advanced and master class.

As a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors, International Guitar Foundation, Rock School and the Musicians Union, Savage Guitar Studio offers certified qualifications from preliminary grade, Grades 1-8 and LLCM Diploma from the Registry of Guitar Tutors and Rock School. Techniques, styles and theory come together to form the professional approaches to the guitar and music.

All equipment is supplied in lessons at Savage Guitar Studio, such as guitars (electric, acoustic), amplification, leads, plectrums, metronomes, stationary, printed handouts, backing tracks, sheet music, music & guitar stands, foot tools, tablature, songs, music, etc. We use the best amps for you to play through in your guitar lessons, makes such as Mesa Boogie, Fender, Carlsbro and Roland. We have guitar makes such as Gretch, Fender, Ibanez, Peavey, Yamaha, Takamine and Godin. Top quality hifi equipment is also used in the studio for playing along with your favourite players and music. We even have digital recording studio with Digi-Design Pro-Tools.

Jimi Savage is the main tutor; he contributed for the national guitar publication Total Guitar, Future Publishing Ltd from 1996 - 2003. Jimi has been awarded RGT Guitar Tutor of the Year 2005. Jimi has travelled throughout doing gigs, master class seminars, workshops and master sessions as a musicain/guitarist and performing at many guitar shows. Jimi Savage has worked alongside some of the top music industry guitar artists such as; Ritchie Sambora (Bon Jovi), Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson), Edward Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Michael Lee Firkins, John Petrucci (Dream Theatre), Martin Taylor, Dominic Miller (Sting), Scott Henderson, Isaac Guillory, Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Phil Hilborne (Guitar Techniques), Eric Roche (Guitar Techniques), Gordon Giltrap, Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) and many more, he also auditioned for Ozzy Osbourne in 1994!

Gift Vouchers....

Are available for that special present, whether it be a Christmas present, Birthdays, Father Day, Mothers Day etc or you may want to just suprise someone! Simply call me at the studio 0191 2221515 and I'll sort out what you're after. You can book as many lessons as you wish. Gift vouchers are valid for 3 months from day of purchase, so lessons must be booked in asap.

Children under the age of 13 may wish to take half hour lessons. Come and look for yourself, we are only 2 minutes walk from Central Station. All students must be registered and lessons are paid in advance to secure your booking. 4 working days notice for any cancellations must be given.

There is a 24hr answering service if I'm unable to answer as I maybe teaching or recording, etc.

Basic Level - Preliminary to Grade 3

Directions to Savage Guitar Studio...

 
Travelling from the M6...

Keep on the M6 then A66 which will join onto the A1 (M).

 
South from the A1 (M)...

Keep travelling north and you will see the Angel of the North statue you are near the turn off for the A184 into Gateshead & Newcastle upon Tyne.

 
North from the A1 (M)...

Keep travelling south past the Metro Centre and at this point you are near the turn off from the A184 into Gateshead & Newcastle upon Tyne.

 
Take the A184...

When you are on the A184 keep into your right hand lane as the road splits the right had lane will take you over the Redheugh Bridge straight into Newcastle City Centre. Once you are over the Redheugh bridge you will come to a set of traffic lights keep to you right hand lane and turn right you will go through another two sets of traffic lights at the 2nd set the road goes into a one way system which bears to the left follow the road and you will come to another set of traffic lights you need to be in the right hand land again as you will be turning right once you have done this find a parking place as this is Westgate Road. 

 
On Foot from Westgate Road...

On the lower section of Westgate Road between Grainger St and Clayton St. There is a Music shop called Newcastle Music on 71 Westgate Road. To the left of the shop is an archway, walk through the archway and this will take you into Blackswan Court walk up the wooden stairs to your right and you will see studio 4, the one with the red door.

 
Public Transport...

Take the Metro to Central Station and follow directions on foot.
